Archive for January, 2012

It is already the third week of 2012…and yes, I know I missed Week 2, not out of laziness but out of being too busy!

The past two weeks have been filled with Winter Sports Photography.  Over 850 photos taken and uploaded in the past two weeks.  With each of the recent shoots, I am finding that the photos need little to no post processing, which is something I am proud of.  Links to each of the galleries are below:

This week I am venturing into a new photography arena, offering portraits of selected sports teams.  If it is successful, I will be broadening the offer to include more sports teams throughout the remainder of the school year.

On a personal photography note, I am currently in the process of selecting one image to enter into a juried photography show in March.  Once I make my selection, I’ll post it here.  I am also updating all of my promotional items and paperwork to include my new branding images and colors.  It has been fun creating these documents and images.

I am also finishing up a custom designed wedding photography album for a wedding I did at Disney in August 2011….another fun and enjoyable project.  Rather than simply relying on the album software that one of my vendors offers, I am actually designing the album pages myself.  The bright colors look great with the wedding photos, and finding places to put hidden mickeys in the backgrounds has been a blast.  I hope to have this project finished in the next week or so.  Once my client approves the album, I’ll post a few pages here so you can see some samples.

Next on the shooting schedule is a cheerleading competition on February 5 (rescheduled from today) and taking a lot of candids and club photos in the coming weeks.

Please remember, if you or someone you know is looking for a photographer, please consider using my services.   Thank you in advance!  I hope you have a great week!

A few of my favorite shots from the Boys Basketball Game on January 13, 2012.

I started off 2011 with the goal of being a better blogger, and I was…for a while until I was so busy that I didn’t make it a priority.  So, my goal for Twenty Twelve is to blog once a week, which I think will be easier to accomplish.  I aim to update my followers about what I’ve done each week with regards to photography, as well as throw in a few musings here and there.

As I write this, it is amazing that it is 65 degrees during the first week of January.  Cold weather lovers are not happy, but I am.  Today was just wonderful.  Being able to have the warm breeze blow through the open windows was greatly appreciated…the fresh air in the house was most welcome.  I spent part of the afternoon taking photos of my awesome nephew, Harrison, who was 8 months old yesterday.  He is one of my favorite subjects to photograph.  I am always amazed at how much he grows every time I take his photograph.  Before long, his army crawl will turn into real steps and I’ll be lucky if I can keep up with him.

Returning to school this week also meant the start of my winter sports photography schedule.  On Thursday, I photographed the girls varsity basketball team in a thriller of a game.  The Lady Hawks defeated Toms River South, avenging their loss to the same team in the WOBM tournament a week earlier.  Many congratulations to the Lady Hawks, as I know this victory was a sweet one for them.   All of the game photos can be seen here:  http://tiny.cc/jbrpi  .  I attached a few of my favorites to this entry.

Next week, I am shooting the boys and girls bowling teams on Tuesday, and the boys basketball team on Friday evening at the Home of the Hawks.

In between schoolwork and winter sports photography, I am reorganizing and looking forward to promoting my photography services more this year.  If you haven’t already done so, please check out my websites at www.photocone.com and http://photocone.zenfolio.com.  You can see a good sample of my work at both sides.  And if you are in search of a photographer, perhaps I am the right one for you.

Here’s to a great Twenty Twelve…may it be memorable, happy and the best year yet!
